Rating: 2/5 stars

Stepbrother Dearest is a new adult book. The book starts out with you meeting the main character Greta. Greta is meeting her stepbrother Elec for the first time. He is going to be living with them. She heard that he is a trouble maker. But that doesn't stop her by trying to be kind to him when he arrives. Greta goes to introduce herself and Elec is mean to her. Throughout the book Greta wont give up and belives there is something good in Elec even though he treats her badly. I felt like Greta was a complete pushover. I didn't connect with their romance at all. I felt on many occasions Elec was degrading. There was nothing special or kind about him. At points I felt bad for Elec, but at those points I still found myself disliking him. One of the things Greta finds loving that he does is more of him basically showing his dominance and control over her. It was hard for me to enjoy the romance because there was nothing loving about Elec. Greta on the other hand had a sweet quality but I couldn't get past how much she allowed herself to be demeaned. Most of the sex scenes were bothersome more then they were sexy. The only thing that I liked about Elec was his looks. I like men who have piercing and tattoos. But you need more than looks to appreciate someone.

The main conflict that sheds light on why Elec is the way he is still didn't get me to accept why he acted the way he did. To me Elec is a character that has no respect for anyone let alone Greta. Greta allowing herself to be treated in such a way shows she lacks respect for herself. Time passes in the book and you have to just accept that the characters can't contact each other. That they have this strong connection yet they are supposed to never get in contact with each other ever again. It made no sense and enraged me. If you care about someone you don't just drop them. You find a way to keep in contact. If you love someone you try. The end of the book was about a choice, when there shouldn't of been a choice to ever begin with. It felt like the author was just reaching for more conflict to make the book more interesting, instead if fell flat for me.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this book. There are way better stories out there.
